It has been a while since we’ve done an again and again review
The last couple months have been busy with the launch of Beneath the Hood: a retelling woven with biblical truth, and sharing the Key Truths about God that Kids need to know.
But now we’re back to talking about fun new books for your kiddos.
I am happy to be reviewing Jamie Ivy’s new children’s book God Made You to be You.
This adorable tale of a Cactus and other desert creatures is fun and imaginative. This book is intended for ages two to six, the rhyming verse and imagination of a cactus who is ‘stuck’ will engage your young reader’s heart and mind.
Not only as a fun book to look at and listen to, but also in the biblical truth that God made us just the way we are for a reason and purpose. Even if you want there is a great look at the desert ecosystem throughout the book. (That may be just for the nature nerd in me)
Jamie Ivey and Tama Fortner have teamed up to make a Cactus named Sammy that is lively, imaginative, and lovable. Because like Sammy we all feel stuck and useless from time to time. But if we look closer at how we interact with the world around us and the friends in it, we can see how much purpose we have been given.
My only quips about the book, is the missed opportunity to show where they Bible speaks these truths about our kids. Even just hidden verses in the pictures could have been great resources for parents as they aim to raise up children who know the value of all people and the intentions God has for every man woman and child. Maybe she'll add some resources on her website, directed at kiddos.
I hope you and those close to you love this sweet little dessert treasure.
Happy Reading.
Jamie Ivey is the creator and host of the popular podcast THE HAPPY HOUR WITH JAMIE IVEY, a central gathering place for talking about life and Jesus. Jamie told the raw, redemptive story that brought her to this place in her debut book, IF YOU ONLY KNEW. Now she's telling the story that keeps her going and frames her God-empowering message to women today. Jamie and her husband, Aaron, make their home for six in Austin, Texas.
Tama Fortner is an award-winning, bestselling writer with more than forty titles to her credit. As a ghostwriter, she has collaborated with some of the biggest names in Christian publishing to create inspirational books for children, teens, and adults. But her greatest accomplishments happen in a happy little home on the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee, where she lives with her family and an incredibly lazy dog who doubles as a footwarmer.
