Here we are at the beginning again.
Another year is underway, and we are prepped and ready to make every moment count…right?
Take a look at the image here and let me know if you can find my word of the year. It seems to be floating around with a hundred other words and ideas in my head.
2023 is as Anne of Green Gables says, "a blank slate with no mistakes in it." Full of hope and potential, but also full of unknowns and expectations. Truthfully the unknowns get me stuck in a state of paralysis around this time of year.
Not only do we have to plan for the year, but we have to plan on how to plan.
Resolutions
Word of the Year
Vision Boards
Dream Guides
A New Calendar/planner
Set a new Goal
These things are all good and well, but they make my head spin.
The media hypes up planning and making changes which often makes me overwhelmed. Between choosing how I want to approach planning to actually plan, I think I’ll go hide under the covers. Last year at this time, I talked about how I handled these pressures in my post Three Steps to Eat an Elephant. (Three Steps to Eat an Elephant)
But despite all the pressures and planning, there is wisdom in looking back and looking forward. Not just about the events and milestones of the year, but how God was faithful.
Looking Back:
2022 was a big year around here.
My second Picture book: An Easter Bunny’s Tale was released
God Provided me the opportunity to go to Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Conference
God provided a scholarship to help with the cost of the conference.
God provided an Agent for my work
Submitted my first book proposal (Still waiting to hear from # of them- fingers crossed, it only takes one)
I hit the milestone of 1000 Followers
I started an Author interview series and have completed 10 Again and Again Author Interviews
I celebrated 2-years of blogging
These are all huge leaps that you helped me achieve, but now we stand will 2023 standing unknown before us.
Looking Forward: The year ahead.
But as a look into the void of 2023, I’m reminded of something Phil Visher said once, he said ‘I'm in charge of my obedience to God and God is in charge of impact’.
This is the lens that I’m looking through for 2023.
I spent ten years being disobedient with my God-given talents, and I have to remind myself that obedience to God is the first goal.
“Seek first the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33 NLT
Even last January, I wouldn’t have been able to tell you that I’d have a YouTube Channel and a TikTok page. Or that I would be interviewing fun, new authors and authors, which I highly respect in my Again and Again Author Interviews. God keeps placing amazing people in my path and it is a joy to celebrate them. (And read more books)
God is so good.
This is the only promise I can make for 2023.
I will continue to be obedient and sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
I will continue to encourage and point you to good books
How will you be obedient with your Talent this year?
How will you spur your kids to use and explore their talents in 2023?
