Spring is in the air, and holidays are popping up like daffodils.
One holiday that doesn't get much attention in the Christian book market is Earth Day coming up on April 22.
That's where this month's book is trying to take some ground.
I Made the Earth by Shannon Cook is a delightful rhyming picture book that addresses Earth Day initiatives from a Christian worldview.
The charming illustrations along with the fun perspective of looking at the Earth like the one who made it. Shannon does a great job of communicating the joy and love God has for his creation as well as why He made it in the first place.
This book does a great job of looking at the world and how we care for it as children of God.
And can I just say that many of Shannon's rhymes were so clever and unique that it made me chuckle to read artichokes and beets as something God was happy to make?
This is a great book to emphasize the importance of taking care of our Earth without idolizing the creation instead of the creator.
Happy Reading!
Shannon Cook is an admittedly imperfect mom of four. She does her best to make decisions based on Biblical truth. She loves to read, write, and be creative. But what she loves most is sitting with a friend and sharing stories and offering encouragement. You can find out more about her and her momma journey on her blog, Focus in the Fog.
Thank you for this awesome review! You really get the heart behind the book. I want more Christians to join the conversation around conservation because for us, it’s stewardship. And our care for the Earth can act as a bridge for those who love creation, but don’t yet know the Creator.
Thanks for this rec! Very happy to have a Christian alternative!!
